The Tandem Disc Harrow classification
system was developed by Krause Corporation to assist farmers
in making an informed decision based on meaningful statistics
when selecting a tandem disc harrow. The system is based
on weight per blade, a key factor in the agronomic performance
of disc harrows.
Class I: Seed Bed Finishing
- 100#-140#
- 22" blades
- Moderate crop residue management
- High-speed tillage/leveling
Increased
amounts of crop residue has more farmers looking into
the agronomic benefits of tandem disc harrows. Discs
are in a unique class for Residue Management because
they both size and mix residue into the soil... compared
to some tools that only size residue or others that
mix without sizing.
Class II: All-Purpose
- 140#-210#
- 22" or 24" blades
- Primary tillage or seed bed finishing
- Heavy crop residue management
Class III: Primary Tillage
- 210#-250#
- 24" or 26" blades
- Primary tillage/extreme conditions
- Heavy crop residue management
